Model #P40 was known as Black or Dark Brown Prancer in the 1956-57 and 1960-62 catalogs, and as Black Beauty in the 1958-59 catalog. There was no solid black Prancer with gold hooves like #44 Western Pony Black Beauty. This silver tack variation is sometimes referred to as the Black Beauty version, as it is less common. These models typically have the white tipped tail, bald face and a black hard plastic snap-on Western saddle with tapaderos. This model was not released with a rider.

Originally had no Copyright Stamp, then around 1960 the round Breyer Molding Co Copyright Stamp was used. Ongoing research to see if this Silver version has a Copyright Stamp.
